PLAYGROUND AFTER VAN EYCK
what is this about?
This project began as an analysis of Van Eyck’s Amsterdam Orphanage and developed into a new playground located on the same site. The playground takes form from the orphanage’s strong geometric order, coupled with its softer, biomorphic shapes. Much like the orphanage, it has several stations along a linear axis designed specifically for children of different developmental phases. The play structures are united by pools of water like the circular pools in Van Eyck’s design.
